We thought we would offer you a little update on what has been happening here at Talking Together in Cambridgeshire.

Facebook

We post regular updates on our Talking Together in Cambridgeshire Facebook page including activity ideas, resources, and strategies for parents, practitioners and others to use to build young children’s communication, language and literacy skills. We have also added links to the fantastic online resources created by some of our community groups including PECT, Groundwork East, and The Fitzwilliam Museum.  Cambridge United Community Trust has continued to post its family-fitness videos, while The Red Hen Project has also posted videos offering support and activity ideas, and we intend to share these with you via our page as well.  Please feel free to share our posts with others who might find them useful.

Funding Advice Sessions

Over the last two years, we have funded innovative community led/based projects to help families understand more about how they can support children’s communication, language and literacy development.  Our latest funding round is now open, and we have added an information video to our Facebook page, dated 30 March, for anyone interested in applying for funding.

Further information can also be found at: https://www.cambslearntogether.co.uk/early-years/talking-together-in-cambridgeshire/funding-information

If you’d like to talk with us about a project idea, or you have questions about the funding process, then please ‘phone 01223 699671 or 07467 330266.

South Cambridgeshire Launch

We have now launched our Melbourn, Meldreth and Duxford reach area. If you’d like to talk with us about the work in our new reach area, which will commence as and when coronavirus restrictions are lifted, please do get in touch by ‘phone on 01223 699671 or 07467 330266. In the interim, you may wish to watch our video, dated 7 April, about the work we have already done in other areas. The video can also be found on our Facebook page.

The Home Learning Hub

The hub aims to share some of the best free home learning resources the internet has to offer. You will find pages for different subject areas and resources for early years and primary schools. As well as links to some of the best external sites, the team of advisers has created a wonderful range of free activities, challenges and projects for children to try at home. You can find the hub at: https://www.cambslearntogether.co.uk/home-learning

Further support for communities

A network of COVID-19 Coordination and Response Hubs has been launched across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. This includes the countywide co-ordination hub and local hubs that are being led by the district/city councils. The £5m Communities Capital Fund, which is aimed at creating opportunities and improving lives and skills across Cambridgeshire, has also been launched. Grants of up to £500,000 are available to any voluntary, community organisation or social enterprise alongside public bodies such as district, parish and town councils, schools or any other organisation that can demonstrate how their project will improve the health, wellbeing, social and economic opportunities and outcomes of Cambridgeshire communities.
